MEET OUR STAFF

 

Michelle VanDenBerg, Pastor of Congregational Life

Michelle VanDenBerg has accepted our offer for the stated supply position to be the Pastor of Congregational Life with the intention of this being an ordained call once she completes all of her requirements through the Christian Reformed Church North America candidacy process in late August.

 

 

 

Amy Murphy, Office Assistant

Amy Murphy was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Her and her husband, Justin, got married at Wash Park in 2011 after moving to Denver in 2009. She spent the past five years working for an insurance brokerage company and is excited to follow God’s calling into ministry. She is passionate about sharing the joy of Jesus and encouraging others to be their best selves. During her free time, Amy enjoys skiing, hiking, yoga, reading, and using her gift of hospitality.

 

 Rachael Afman, Youth Ministry Director

Rachael was raised here in Denver and has been a member of Hope Fellowship CRC since she was born. She attended Calvin College where she graduated with a Marketing Degree in 2013 before moving back home to Colorado. She has worked as a digital marketing specialist for the past 5 years while volunteering as a youth group leader here at Hope Fellowship. After several years of coaching and leading youth group, Rachael felt God’s call to a bigger role in youth ministry. She is excited to see where God brings the youth of Hope Fellowship and the surrounding community through her work as Youth Director.  When Rachael is not working she enjoys hiking, skiing, and mountain biking with her friends and family in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

Lisa DeBoer, Children’s Ministry Co-Director

Lisa DeBoer and her family – husband Matt, children Luke, Elin, and Judah felt God calling them to Denver in the fall of 2013. Lisa attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in social work. After graduating from Calvin, Lisa and Matt moved to Redlands, CA. There, Lisa earned her Master’s degree in counseling and education from Azusa Pacific University. She worked as a school counselor at Redlands Christian School. She was also part of the Children’s Ministry Team at The River Christian Reformed Church.

Since becoming a member at Hope Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, Lisa has gotten involved in women’s bible studies, helped with the fellowship team, and volunteered with children’s worship. She is excited to see how God is going to work to further develop the children’s ministry program at Hope Fellowship.

 

Jocelyn Swalley, Children’s Ministry Co-Director

Jocelyn, her husband Bryan, daughter Lola, and sons Elijah and Jayden are thankful to call Hope Fellowship Christian Reformed Church “home.” Jocelyn is a native Californian and graduate of Azusa Pacific University. After earning her bachelor’s degree in English, Jocelyn relocated with Bryan to his home town of Centennial, CO and became a member at Hope Fellowship. Jocelyn has enjoyed the opportunity to serve as a Sunday school teacher, Calvin Camp Board President, and Shepherding Deacon.

Jocelyn is passionate about sharing Christ’s love with all children and is thrilled to be able to serve the church and the community in the Children’s Ministry Associate position. In their free time the Swalleys love to ski and explore all over Colorado!

 

Sandra Perez, Director of Custodial Services

Sandra Perez, our Custodian, is a long-time employee of Hope Fellowship Christian Reformed Church. Sandra was born and raised in Guatemala. In her spare time she enjoys taking walks and spending time in the mountains. Sandra and her husband Victor have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Sandra likes working with the people here at Hope Fellowship and enjoys the compliments that the church folks give her about the cleanliness of the buildings and the grounds.

Sandra and Victor have recently started a new church for the Hispanic community in north Denver called Cascade of Hope.
