Dominic Palacios, Co-Pastor
Michelle VanDenBerg, Co-Pastor (Congregational Life)
Pastor Michelle VanDenBerg has been pastoring at Hope Fellowship since August of 2017. Pastor Michelle graduated from Western Theological Seminary in May 2017 and was ordained as a Minister of the Word, here at Hope Fellowship, on November 17, 2017. Pastor Michelle enjoys pastoral care, spending time creating meaningful faith formation experiences for people of all ages, and connecting people in our congregation to each other and to the community. Pastor Michelle also enjoys preaching once a month and playing the piano in worship from time to time as well. Pastor Michelle is married to Mark and they are celebrating 22 years of marriage in 2020. Mark and Michelle have three boys, Henry (17), Oliver (15), and Linus (11). They love living in Denver and taking their dog, Lucy, on hikes in the mountains.
Trish VanDusseldorp, Office Assistant
Trish VanDusseldorp is native to Colorado! With a BSW in Social Work, she has experience serving members of the community in a number of different ways. Trish and her husband, Nathan, keep themselves very busy with two girls, Elizabeth, age 13, and Abby, age 10. They enjoy CU football and have held season tickets for nearly ten years. They also enjoy spending time in Colorado’s beautiful mountains, participating in and watching sports, playing golf, and spending quality time with family and friends throughout the Denver area. Trish is very excited to be a part of the ministries at HFCRC and looks forward to growing closer in her walk with God and getting to know the incredible staff members at Hope Fellowship!
Rachael Afman, Youth Ministry Director
Rachael was raised here in Denver and has been a member of Hope Fellowship CRC since she was born. She attended Calvin College where she graduated with a Marketing Degree in 2013 before moving back home to Colorado. She has worked as a digital marketing specialist for the past 5 years while volunteering as a youth group leader here at Hope Fellowship. After several years of coaching and leading youth group, Rachael felt God’s call to a bigger role in youth ministry. She is excited to see where God brings the youth of Hope Fellowship and the surrounding community through her work as Youth Director. When Rachael is not working she enjoys hiking, skiing, and mountain biking with her friends and family in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
Lisa DeBoer, Children’s Ministry Co-Director
Lisa DeBoer and her family – husband Matt, children Luke, Elin, and Judah felt God calling them to Denver in the fall of 2013. Lisa attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in social work. After graduating from Calvin, Lisa and Matt moved to Redlands, CA. There, Lisa earned her Master’s degree in counseling and education from Azusa Pacific University. She worked as a school counselor at Redlands Christian School. She was also part of the Children’s Ministry Team at The River Christian Reformed Church.
Since becoming a member at Hope Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, Lisa has gotten involved in women’s bible studies, helped with the fellowship team, and volunteered with children’s worship. She is excited to see how God is going to work to further develop the children’s ministry program at Hope Fellowship.
Jocelyn Swalley, Children’s Ministry Co-Director
Jocelyn, her husband Bryan, daughter Lola, and sons Elijah and Jayden are thankful to call Hope Fellowship Christian Reformed Church “home.” Jocelyn is a native Californian and graduate of Azusa Pacific University. After earning her bachelor’s degree in English, Jocelyn relocated with Bryan to his home town of Centennial, CO and became a member at Hope Fellowship. Jocelyn has enjoyed the opportunity to serve as a Sunday school teacher, Calvin Camp Board President, and Shepherding Deacon.
Jocelyn is passionate about sharing Christ’s love with all children and is thrilled to be able to serve the church and the community in the Children’s Ministry Associate position. In their free time the Swalleys love to ski and explore all over Colorado!
Sandra Perez, Director of Custodial Services
Sandra Perez, our Custodian, is a long-time employee of Hope Fellowship Christian Reformed Church. Sandra was born and raised in Guatemala. In her spare time she enjoys taking walks and spending time in the mountains. Sandra and her husband Victor have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Sandra likes working with the people here at Hope Fellowship and enjoys the compliments that the church folks give her about the cleanliness of the buildings and the grounds.
Sandra and Victor have recently started a new church for the Hispanic community in north Denver called Cascade of Hope.
